Grouper Fishing Charters in May
Another week and more great news to report back. Last week was the official start of grouper season and they were out in full force. Our deep sea Key West fishing charter caught a variety of grouper species including black grouper, gag grouper, scamp grouper, and red grouper. Grouper is an exciting sportfish to go after, if only for the fact that you are able to take it home with you and enjoy it cooked fresh at one of the many local restaurants that will cook up your fresh catch for you. Another exciting and delicious catch we have been going after this week is Mahi Mahi. There is a large presence right now of both grouper and mahi mahi out in the offshore waters surrounding the Key West fishing grounds. We have also had a couple Wahoo catches, especially on one particular full day offshore charter with Captain Kevin, the biggest of which was 55 pounds!

On our inshore Key West flats fishing, the name of the game is currently tarpon! Since it is their migration season, these guys are out there in massive quantities. We have caught tarpon ranging in weight from 30 pounds to 130 pounds! Obviously there is a wide variety of tarpon to catch while flats fishing! The most successful flats fishing trips for tarpon happen in the early morning or around sunset!
Grouper fishing in Key West is something that will also ensure a perfect ending to a great vacation. Nothing tastes better than a grilled grouper sandwich fresh from a Key West deep sea fishing charter.
